After a month of auditions & callbacks, VACT is pleased to announce the CAST to the FLOWER DRUM SONG.

Isaac recently graduated from the Musical Theatre Program at Capilano University, and is thrilled that he is already working with the VACT. Previous credits include: 42ND STREET, THE PAJAMA GAME, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, THE ASH GIRL, TROJAN WOMEN 2.0, HONK!, and THE THREEPENNY OPERA. Isaac is very grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with the cast and crew of FLOWER DDRUM SONG and would like to thank his instructors at the university for preparing him for his first job. |

Rosie is a recent graduate from the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University, and she is thrilled to be a part of the show! Her past projects include, Little Shop of Horrors, Merrily We Roll Along, Honk! A Musical Comedy, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Trojan Women. You may have also seen her as the street singer in Capilano’s production of The Threepenny Opera, or heard her playing the cello in The Wiz. Rosie would like to thank her parents, teachers and friends for supporting her throughout these past years! |

Jimmy is thrilled to be a part of his second show with VACT. This is also his second time playing Sammy Fong, a role he thoroughly enjoyed playing with Applause Musicals. On stage, Jimmy has most recently played Felix in VACT’s Asian version of “The Odd Couple” and Moonface Martin in Metro Theatre’s presentation of “Anything Goes”. He loves theatre and especially enjoys performing in musicals because not only does he get to pretend to be someone else, he gets to dance and sing while playing someone else. Jimmy is also a local film and TV actor and hopes to one day supplant Jack Nicholson from his courtside seat at Lakers’ games. |

Lannette is excited to be part of VACT’s first musical production and is thrilled to take on the challenging and fun role of Linda Low. Lannette has performed in numerous musicals, concerts, and chorus groups, and she is currently the soprano in the a cappella jazz quintet, VERVE Collective. Some favourite musical roles have been Penny in “Honk!” (Ophidian Entertainment – the original & the remount), Dominique Du Monaco in “Lucky Stiff” (Triptych Theatricals), and Yvette in “Miss Saigon” (Arts Club). B.C. Lee was born in Macao and raised in Taiwan. Mr. Lee studied at New York University and lived in the New York City in the 80s before settling in Vancouver in 1992. Mr. Lee was elected Vancouver City Councillor in 2005-2008. Prior to his political life, Mr. Lee was has his own TV and radio show in New York as well as in Vancouver. He has a credited speaking part in Ang Lee’s first movie the “Pushing Hands”. |

Linda is thrilled to be doing her first VACT production. Credits include The King and I (Richmond Gateway Theatre) and shows with Applause! Musicals in Concert, including “Flower Drum Song”,”Very Good Eddie”,and “Irene”. Her favourite roles have included Princess Puffer in “The Mystery of Edwin Drood”, and “Flirty Gertie” in Tenderloin. Linda is a proud member of zany Broadway Chorus, where she has played such diverse roles as a nun, ghost, samurai princess and Tina Turner. Next, she will be appearing as a superhero in the Broadway Chorus Show, “The Supermusical”. Linda enjoys singing jazz standards, blues and rock. She tap dances and holds a 3rd degree black belt in aikido. A former lawyer, she now works as a human rights administrator and consultant. |

When the role of your mother’s dreams is available, you take it! Hey, it’s never too late to be a doctor in an Asian family – even if it’s only acting! Tom brings his baggage from 10 years of VACT comedy shows and the Sex in Vancouver series to share with this fabuloso group, another of those “hundred million miracles”. Hope we represent well all those who came before. |

Damon is a recent graduate of the Capilano University Musical Theatre Program. He was most recently seen as Tiger Brown in “The Threepenny Opera” (Exit 22) and in his graduation showcase at The Stanley Theatre. Additional selected credits include: Honk!, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Exit 22) The Trojan Women, Merrily We Roll Along (The Arbutus Studio), Boy Magnificent (SHIFT), Uproot, 2007 Young Playwrite winner (IGNITE) Jekyll and Hyde, West Coast Primier (Theatrix) The Nutcracker (RCYB) The Rocky Horror Show (Wicked Awesome Theatre) Anything Goes (Pipedream) and big:the musical (TUTS). He has additional training from Studio 58, Harbour Dance Center and C.A.P.A. |

Joy Castro is an emerging theatre artist currently enrolled in Studio 58’s Professional Theatre Training Program. She has performed with several theatre companies around the Lower Mainland: Theatre In The Raw, Footlight Theatre, Shakti Arts, Gateway Theatre and The Vagabond Players. Joy has also performed twice in the Brave New Playrites Festival at UBC and in “New York City Hospital: The Musical”, featured in the 2004 Vancouver Fringe Festival at Performance Works. Joy is the co-founder/co-artistic director of Limbo Circus Theatre. She was last seen as ‘Margie’ in Studio 58’s rompy 1950’s musical “Bye Bye Birdie”. Joy thanks her fabulous family & friends for their love & support and VACT for taking a chance on her. |

Angus is very excited to be in an all-Asian cast show again. He was in The King and I (TUTS) 6 years ago and it proved to be the best summer he ever had. Angus was most recently seen as Priest #3 and Matthew in Jesus Christ Superstar (TUTS) last summer. Other recent credits include: Annie, Vaudeville Varieties (Footlight); Promises, Promises (Metro). Besides being on stage, he is also actively involved behind the scene as the treasurer for both Footlight Theatre and Patrick Street Productions. He would like to thank the production team, casts and crew for another great experience. |

Richard Lam is an actor and improvisor. He is a member of the Vancouver Theatresports League Masterclass ensemble and was president of UBC Improv in 2008-2009. He has also worked extensively with !nstant Theatre and is a proud volunteer with the Canadian Improv Games, for which he serves as a referee, trainer, adjudicator, and judge. Theatre credits include: Sure Thing (Evenstar Theatre), Do Re Mi, Babes in Arms, and Flower Drum Song (APPLAUSE!), Anything Goes (Pipedream), and the pantomimes Mother Goose and Cinderella (Metro Theatre). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UBC. |

A Vancouver native, Aurora ventured into the magical world of acting in 2006 and has been enjoying the adventure ever since. Having been a part of the VACT family in various capacities over the years, including legal counsel and stylist, she is excited for this opportunity to slip on dancing shoes, take the stage and channel her inner Beyoncé (LMMD Forever). Marcia is delighted to be in VACT’s first ever musical theatre production. She was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she started dancing at the age of 5. In Vancouver, she studied ballet, jazz, and Chinese dance at the Goh Ballet Academy and later pursued tap dancing at Dance Co. and the Vancouver Tap Dance Society. As a dancer, she has performed at the Vancouver Playhouse, Vancouver International Children’s Festival, and Vernon Performing Arts Centre. As an actor, she has appeared in Sweet Charity (Pipedream Productions), Promises Promises (Metro Theatre), Cinderella Pantomime (Metro Theatre), and several television commercials. Marcia is ecstatic to be back on stage after a two-year hiatus during which she successfully defended her PhD in Chemistry! |

Born and raised in Malaysia, Nancie Leong Wai See is trained in Jazz, Adult Ballet, Latin and Ballroom dancing. With 11+ years in stage performance experience, Nancie has been dancing with several renowned dance companies within Malaysia, performing in various productions including product launches for large corporations (KIA Motors, Peugeot 307, and the late wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Nyonya Kebaya), musicals (“The Inspiration” for Girl Guide 70th Anniversary), Showcases (“Beauty and the Beast”, “Peter Pan”) and variety of dance shows. She is an experienced Aerobic class instructor, certified in Latin American Dancing (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) and Fitness Leader Training and Step Reebok Workshop and Master Class instruction. Nancie’s goals are to possess additional dance techniques and gain more variety of stage performance experience. |

Kayla Liu is a student at Little Flower Academy. She enjoys being a member of the chamber choir and is part of the cast of their school production, ‘Bye Bye Birdie’. She loves to dance and has danced at Dance Co. since she was eight. For the past few summers, Kayla has enjoyed being part of the Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance program. In 2005, Kayla was cast in Applause’s ‘Flower Drum Song’ and is very excited and grateful to have this opportunity to be a part of the VACT’s production! |

Miiro is extremely excited to be working with VACT for the first time and to be a part of their first musical production. Although she is in the middle of studying towards her Commerce degree at UBC, Miiro has always had a secret love for the theatre. Even if her accounting education takes her elsewhere, she hopes to continue to expand her theatre experiences for years to come. Miiro would also like to thank the cast and crew for this fun experience and hopes that everyone will enjoy the show! |

Edwina Shuster has been in the film and television industry since 2003. She started as a background performer, and in 2007 branched out to include principal roles. She has taken a variety of workshops over the years including commercial and film auditions, scene studies for film and stage, animation and commercial voice over, as well as dialect training. Edwina has had principal roles in a YTV production and a promotional video. She also had a lead role in an independent / student film. In her spare time, Edwina enjoys choral singing, line dancing, walking and travelling. She is conversant in Cantonese and can get by in Mandarin and French. |

Steven is excited to be a part of Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre’s first musical production. He just finished playing Flute/Thisbe in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” this past April. Behind the scenes, Steven is a lawyer who practices family law and civil and estates litigation. He would like to thank his children for their inspiration. Thanks also to all the cast and crew for making this a fun and creative endeavour. And thanks to all of you for supporting VACT. So sit back and enjoy the show! |
